Peterborough Lift Lock is as known as Trent-Severn Waterway Lock 21. It was originally built in 1904. The current lock was built in 1980. The dual lifts were the highest hydraulic boat lifts in the world for many years.
The Peterborough Lift Lock is a real-world example of multiple theories learned in the physics class in secondary school, including pressure and communicating vessels. Please note that it was not electric-driven 120 years ago. How amazing it is!
